As a rapidly growing city, Providence is doing much to provide its residents with opportunities to be healthy. The city adopted an ordinance requiring all new subdivisions to connect sidewalks and provide adequate outdoor lighting. Providence also created a community survey to ask residents what initiatives they would most like to be implemented in the community to improve quality of life. The survey was spearheaded by the Providence Healthy City coalition, which was created in 2022 to promote community wellbeing. To support city employees, Providence created a wellness policy for staff and added healthy snacks to their break rooms.
