Health in All Policies Pilot Projects

Get Healthy Utah partnered with Manti, Millcreek, and West Valley City to fund Health in All Policies (HiAP) pilot projects from Spring 2022 to 2023. Health in All Policies is an integrated, collaborative approach to improve the health of a community by considering the health, sustainability, and equity impacts of policies and actions being made across sectors.

The goal of the pilot was to create a formal policy and process, through creating a HiAP ordinance, resolution, or language in general plans. 

West Valley’s city council passed a Health in All Policies proclamation to incorporate a Health Lens checklist into the decision-making process for city departments. Manti passed a Health in All Policies resolution and focused on expanding a walking path. And Millcreek did a Health Impact Assessment (HIA) on walkability, access to healthy food, and community environment as part of Millcreek’s code update to their zoning and subdivision ordinances.
